SingularXYZ H2 Handheld SLAM LiDAR Scanner for Professional 3D Mapping
The SingularXYZ H2 is a lightweight handheld 3D laser scanner designed for professional surveying, construction documentation, infrastructure mapping and digital reality capture. Combining SLAM LiDAR technology with three global-shutter fisheye cameras, it allows operators to collect detailed, colourised 3D point clouds while walking through buildings, industrial facilities and outdoor environments.
With a scanning speed of up to 200,000 points per second, a maximum scanning radius of 70 metres and specified accuracy of 1 cm at 10 metres, the H2 offers a practical solution for capturing existing conditions without setting up a stationary laser scanner at every measurement position. Its modular design also supports optional RTK GNSS positioning, allowing surveyors to connect scanned environments to real-world coordinates when the appropriate equipment and correction data are available.
Weighing just 740 g without its battery handle, the H2 is designed for portable fieldwork. Combined with the SingularCloud software ecosystem, it provides a workflow for capturing, reviewing, processing and exporting 3D data for surveying, engineering and construction applications.
40-Line SLAM LiDAR for Detailed 3D Scanning
The SingularXYZ H2 features a 40-line LiDAR scanner capable of collecting up to 200,000 laser measurements per second. As the operator walks through the survey area, SLAM technology estimates the scanner’s movement while building a three-dimensional representation of the surrounding environment.
For surveyors and engineers, this means that walls, floors, ceilings, structural elements, equipment and terrain can be captured as a continuous point cloud rather than measured individually. This is particularly useful when documenting existing buildings, factories, construction sites and other environments containing complex geometry.
The scanner uses a 905 nm Class 1 laser and provides a 360° horizontal field of view with 59° vertical coverage. This wide scanning angle helps capture surrounding surfaces while reducing the number of separate scanning positions required.
Because the vertical field of view is limited, operators should plan their scanning path to capture important surfaces above and below the instrument. Additional passes may be necessary around high ceilings, deep openings or objects hidden behind obstacles.
Scanning Radius up to 70 Metres
The H2 provides a maximum scanning radius of 70 metres on surfaces with reflectivity above 80%. On darker or less reflective surfaces with reflectivity above 10%, the specified scanning radius is 40 metres.
This gives operators flexibility when scanning large rooms, industrial halls, building façades and outdoor structures. For example, a surveyor documenting a warehouse can capture surrounding walls and structural features while moving through the building, reducing the number of instrument setups compared with conventional stationary scanning.
Actual detection distance depends on surface reflectivity, environmental conditions, scanning geometry and line of sight. Dark materials, glass, vegetation and highly reflective surfaces may require additional scanning positions or different measurement methods to achieve complete coverage.
1 cm Accuracy at 10 Metres
The SingularXYZ H2 offers specified LiDAR accuracy of 1 cm at a measurement distance of 10 metres under reference conditions. This provides useful geometric detail for building documentation, architectural surveys and infrastructure mapping.
For construction professionals, the resulting point cloud can be used to review existing wall positions, structural geometry, floor layouts and other visible site features. Engineers can extract measurements and prepare spatial information for planning, renovation and design workflows.
It is important to distinguish the scanner’s specified LiDAR accuracy from the absolute accuracy of a complete surveying project. SLAM trajectory quality, scan duration, survey control, coordinate alignment and the surrounding environment all influence the final result. Projects requiring verified engineering coordinates should use appropriate ground control and independent checks.
Triple Global-Shutter Cameras for Colourised Point Clouds
One of the distinguishing features of the SingularXYZ H2 is its integrated imaging system. The scanner includes three 2 MP global-shutter fisheye cameras designed to collect visual information alongside the LiDAR measurements.
Each camera provides a wide 170° diagonal field of view, allowing the system to capture photographic information from multiple directions. During processing, this imagery is combined with the laser measurements to create realistic colourised 3D point clouds.
For building surveys, colourisation makes it easier to recognise walls, doors, windows, equipment and other objects within the scanned environment. In industrial applications, it helps engineers distinguish machinery, structural elements and different materials when reviewing the point cloud.
The visual information also makes 3D models easier to understand for clients and project managers who are less familiar with raw LiDAR data. Instead of viewing only coloured elevation values or laser intensity, users can examine geometry together with visual context.
Optional RTK GNSS for Georeferenced 3D Mapping
The SingularXYZ H2 supports an optional 1408-channel RTK GNSS module, allowing the scanning system to be expanded for projects requiring geographical coordinate alignment.
With the optional module installed, the GNSS subsystem supports GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and SBAS satellite signals. The manufacturer specifies RTK positioning accuracy of 8 mm + 1 ppm horizontally and 15 mm + 1 ppm vertically under reference conditions.
For surveyors and GIS professionals, georeferenced point clouds are useful when combining building or infrastructure scans with existing survey control, design coordinates and GIS information. This allows scanned environments to be positioned within a project coordinate system instead of remaining only in local scan coordinates.
GNSS reception depends on satellite visibility and correction availability. Indoor environments, tunnels and locations beneath large structures generally require alternative positioning or registration methods. The H2 also supports coordinate alignment using ground control points during processing.
The optional RTK accuracy specification applies to the GNSS positioning subsystem and does not guarantee the same absolute accuracy for every point in the finished LiDAR model.
Modular Design for Different Surveying Workflows
The H2 uses a modular construction that allows operators to adapt the instrument to different scanning applications. Optional accessories include an RTK GNSS module, smartphone mounting bracket and connections for external devices.
For indoor building documentation, the scanner can be used as a compact handheld SLAM system without the optional GNSS module. For outdoor mapping projects, an RTK configuration can provide additional positioning information where satellite reception is suitable.
The scanner also includes reserved mounting positions and USB Type-C interfaces for external integration, including compatible imaging and robotic systems. This makes the H2 relevant for users who need flexibility as their scanning workflows develop.
The available accessories and supported configurations should be confirmed before purchasing, particularly when planning specialised vehicle-mounted, robotic or GNSS-assisted applications.
Real-Time Point Cloud Viewing with SingularCloud Go
The SingularXYZ H2 works with SingularCloud Go, a mobile application for viewing and managing scanning data in the field. The app connects to the scanner through Wi-Fi and supports compatible Android and iOS devices.
During data collection, operators can review a real-time point cloud and monitor the scanner’s operating status. The app provides RGB, intensity and elevation display modes, allowing users to inspect the captured environment from different perspectives.
For surveyors working inside buildings or complex industrial facilities, this is particularly useful when checking whether rooms, corridors and important structural features have been captured. Missing areas can be identified and rescanned before leaving the site.
SingularCloud Go also supports basic on-site measurements, including points, distances and areas, as well as project review and supported DXF export workflows. The optional smartphone bracket allows a compatible phone to be positioned directly alongside the scanner for convenient viewing during operation.
Lightweight Design for Everyday Fieldwork
With a scanner body weight of approximately 740 g, the SingularXYZ H2 is designed for portable scanning work. Its compact dimensions of 115 × 113 × 120 mm without the handle make it practical to transport between survey locations and operate in confined indoor environments.
The battery handle weighs approximately 485 g and includes a 4000 mAh battery, providing up to two hours of continuous scanning under specified conditions. The combined scanner body and handle weigh approximately 1.23 kg before additional accessories.
The H2 includes 256 GB of internal SSD storage for collected data and supports USB 3.0 Type-C and Wi-Fi connections for data transfer. These features help operators manage scanning projects without relying on removable storage media during every survey.
The scanner has an IP54-rated enclosure and operates within a specified temperature range of -10°C to +40°C. This provides resistance to dust and splashing water during normal fieldwork, although the equipment should be protected from heavy rain and other unsuitable environmental conditions.
