SingularXYZ H1 Handheld SLAM LiDAR Scanner with Integrated RTK GNSS
The SingularXYZ H1 is a professional handheld 3D laser scanner designed for land surveying, construction, infrastructure mapping and digital documentation. Combining SLAM LiDAR technology, integrated RTK GNSS positioning and high-resolution panoramic cameras, it allows surveyors and engineers to capture detailed 3D point clouds while moving through buildings, construction sites and outdoor environments.
Unlike conventional stationary laser scanners, the H1 collects measurements continuously as the operator walks through the survey area. This makes it particularly useful for documenting large buildings, industrial facilities and complex sites where setting up a tripod at every position would take additional time.
With up to 480,000 measurements per second, a maximum scanning radius of 70 metres and a built-in 3.9-inch AMOLED touchscreen, the H1 combines mobile scanning performance with practical field operation. Its integrated GNSS RTK receiver also supports georeferenced point clouds for surveying and GIS projects where real-world coordinates are required.
High Density 3D Scanning with 480000 Points per Second
The SingularXYZ H1 uses a 32-channel LiDAR scanner capable of collecting up to 480,000 points per second. The system continuously measures surrounding surfaces and uses SLAM technology to estimate the scanner’s position and movement as the operator walks through the environment.
For surveyors, this provides a practical way to capture walls, floors, ceilings, buildings, equipment, terrain and other visible features without measuring every point individually. The resulting point cloud provides a three-dimensional record of the existing environment that can be analysed and processed into useful surveying and engineering deliverables.
The scanner features a 360° horizontal and 63.5° vertical field of view, allowing it to collect measurements around the operator. This is useful for capturing corridors, industrial buildings, construction sites and outdoor areas containing structures or vegetation.
The high measurement rate helps produce dense point clouds, although the final point density depends on scanning distance, walking speed, surface characteristics and the selected scanning procedure.
Scanning Radius up to 70 Metres
The H1 uses 905 nm Class 1 laser technology with a specified scanning radius of up to 70 metres on surfaces with reflectivity above 80%. On darker surfaces with reflectivity above 10%, the specified scanning radius is 40 metres.
This distinction is important in practical fieldwork. Bright concrete, light-coloured walls and other reflective surfaces may be measured from greater distances than dark materials, vegetation or poorly reflective objects.
The H1 is suitable for both indoor and outdoor scanning. Indoors, its scanning range is useful for capturing large rooms, corridors, warehouses and industrial facilities. Outdoors, it can support mapping of construction sites, building façades, infrastructure and accessible terrain.
Actual scanning performance depends on reflectivity, environmental conditions, line of sight and scanning geometry. Additional scanning positions may be needed to capture surfaces hidden behind walls, equipment or other obstacles.
Centimetre Level LiDAR Accuracy for Detailed Reality Capture
The SingularXYZ H1 provides specified LiDAR accuracy of 1.5 cm at 10 metres, 3 cm at 20 metres and 5 cm at 40 metres under reference conditions. These figures make the scanner suitable for a range of building documentation, infrastructure mapping and spatial measurement applications.
For construction professionals, the point cloud can provide useful information about existing site geometry, including the position of visible walls, structures, embankments and other physical features. Surveyors can use the processed data to extract dimensions, cross-sections and spatial measurements.
Accuracy requirements should always be considered when planning a scanning project. LiDAR measurement accuracy, SLAM trajectory accuracy and absolute georeferencing accuracy are separate factors. For engineering work requiring verified coordinates, appropriate control measurements and independent checks should be used.
Integrated RTK GNSS for Georeferenced 3D Point Clouds
One of the main advantages of the SingularXYZ H1 is its integrated multi-constellation RTK GNSS positioning system. The scanner uses a 1408-channel GNSS receiver supporting GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and NavIC satellite systems.
The GNSS subsystem provides specified RTK accuracy of 8 mm + 1 ppm horizontally and 15 mm + 1 ppm vertically under reference conditions. With suitable correction data and satellite reception, this positioning information can support the georeferencing of collected LiDAR point clouds.
For land surveyors and GIS specialists, georeferenced scanning is useful when combining new measurements with existing site coordinates, survey control points, infrastructure data and GIS layers. Instead of working only with a local point cloud, the processed scan can be connected to a real-world coordinate system.
In outdoor environments with suitable satellite visibility, GNSS can support the positioning workflow. Inside buildings, tunnels and other locations where satellite signals are unavailable, the H1 relies on its SLAM and inertial sensing capabilities for local scanning. Additional control or registration may be required to connect indoor measurements to a project coordinate system.
The RTK accuracy specification applies to the GNSS positioning system and should not be interpreted as the absolute accuracy of every point in the finished 3D scan.
Dual 13 MP Cameras for Colourised Point Clouds
The SingularXYZ H1 features two 13 MP fisheye cameras with 1-inch CMOS image sensors. These cameras collect visual information alongside the laser measurements, supporting the creation of colourised point clouds and visually detailed 3D representations.
The imaging system offers a combined 360° × 300° field of view and supports HDR imaging across a specified 3–5 EV range. This helps capture useful visual information in environments containing both bright and darker areas.
For building documentation, colourised point clouds make it easier to identify doors, windows, walls, equipment and other objects within the scanned environment. Engineers and project managers can interpret the results more easily when the measured geometry is combined with photographic colour information.
The H1 also includes a near-infrared tracking camera that supports visual tracking and SLAM operation. This contributes additional information to the positioning workflow, particularly in environments where the geometry or lighting makes scanning more challenging.
Built In 3.9 Inch AMOLED Touchscreen
The SingularXYZ H1 includes a 3.9-inch AMOLED touchscreen with integrated scanning software. This allows operators to manage scanning functions and review collected data directly on the instrument without relying on a separate smartphone or controller for basic scan operation.
The built-in viewer supports point cloud, photographic and split-screen display modes. Operators can monitor scanning progress and inspect the captured environment while working through the site.
This is particularly useful when surveying buildings containing multiple rooms, corridors or complex industrial installations. By checking the scanning coverage in the field, operators can identify missing areas and collect additional measurements before leaving the location.
The scanner uses an integrated eight-core processor to support data acquisition, visualisation and imaging functions during fieldwork.
Lightweight Handheld Design for Flexible Surveying
Weighing approximately 900 g without the handle, the SingularXYZ H1 is designed for portable 3D scanning. Its compact scanner body measures 120 × 145 × 85 mm, making it practical to carry between buildings, project locations and different sections of a survey site.
The H1 is supplied with two 12,000 mAh battery grips, each supporting up to one hour of continuous scanning under specified conditions. This allows operators to organise fieldwork into separate scanning sessions and change power sources when necessary.
The scanner also supports external power connections, providing additional flexibility for compatible vehicle-mounted, drone-mounted or other specialised scanning configurations. Mounting compatibility, power requirements and operating limitations should be confirmed for each platform.
The H1 features an IP65-rated housing for protection against dust and water jets and operates within a specified temperature range of -10°C to +50°C. Its metal construction is designed for professional field environments, although proper handling and protection remain important for reliable operation.
Applications in Surveying Construction and Infrastructure
Building Surveys and As Built Documentation
Surveyors and architects can use the SingularXYZ H1 to capture existing buildings before renovation, refurbishment or extension work. Walking through rooms and corridors allows operators to collect detailed spatial information that can support floor plans, elevations, cross-sections and three-dimensional building models.
For projects involving older buildings or incomplete drawings, a processed point cloud provides a valuable reference of the actual geometry observed on site.
Construction and Civil Engineering
Construction companies can use the H1 to document construction sites, measure visible site features and create three-dimensional records of existing conditions. Point cloud data can support site planning, construction progress documentation and comparisons between survey periods when appropriate control and processing procedures are used.
Industrial Facilities and Plant Engineering
The H1 is suitable for capturing factories, warehouses, machinery rooms and industrial installations. Mobile scanning can help document visible pipework, steel structures, equipment and surrounding geometry, providing spatial information for refurbishment planning and engineering coordination.
Roads Bridges and Infrastructure Mapping
For infrastructure projects, the scanner can collect spatial information about roads, retaining walls, bridges, tunnels and nearby structures. Its portable design is useful in locations where traditional tripod-based scanning would require multiple setups or where access is restricted.
Mining and Earthwork Surveys
Surveyors working in quarries, mines and earthwork projects can use the H1 to document accessible excavations, stockpiles and terrain surfaces. Processed 3D point clouds can support cross-section analysis and volume calculations through suitable third-party or specialist software.
GIS and Asset Mapping
GIS professionals can use georeferenced point clouds to document infrastructure assets, buildings and other visible environmental features. The integrated GNSS system is particularly valuable when scan data must be related to existing map coordinates or spatial datasets.
Architecture and Heritage Digitisation
The combination of 3D geometry and photographic imaging makes the H1 useful for documenting historical buildings, architectural details and heritage environments. Processed data can provide a digital record of visible structures and support further modelling or visualisation work.
Point Cloud Processing with SingularStudio
After completing a survey, the collected data can be processed using SingularStudio, SingularXYZ’s software environment for point cloud processing and visualisation.
The workflow supports point cloud processing, colourisation and the generation of visual 3D outputs. Supported colourised point cloud formats include PCD, LAS, E57 and PLY, allowing processed data to be transferred into compatible surveying, CAD, GIS and 3D modelling applications.
Colourised mesh models can be exported in OBJ format, while 3D Gaussian Splatting results can be generated in PLY format. These options give professionals flexibility when preparing geometric datasets, digital representations and visually detailed presentations.
Gaussian Splatting is particularly relevant for creating realistic visual representations of buildings and environments. It complements conventional point clouds, although it should not be treated as a replacement for verified survey measurements when precise engineering geometry is required.
For larger projects, operators should consider processing computer performance and available storage. The software’s recommended system configuration includes a powerful multi-core processor, dedicated NVIDIA graphics hardware and sufficient memory for handling substantial 3D datasets.
