A Complete RTK GNSS Rover Set for Field Surveying
The Spherefix SP20 Rover Set combines the SP20 multi-constellation GNSS receiver with the C100T Android field controller. The two devices work together as a portable rover solution for surveyors, engineers, construction teams, GIS professionals and drone operators who need accurate coordinates and efficient field-data collection.
The set can be used with a compatible network RTK correction service or a suitable GNSS base station. It is suited to construction stakeout, topographic surveys, cadastral work, utility mapping, as-built measurement, control checks and the collection of ground control points for drone mapping.
Multi-Constellation GNSS Tracking
The SP20 uses a 1,408-channel GNSS board capable of tracking signals from GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, SBAS and NavIC. Tracking multiple constellations gives the receiver access to more satellites and frequencies, which can improve satellite geometry and help maintain a reliable position when part of the sky is obstructed.
This is valuable on construction sites, beside buildings, near machinery and in other environments where a receiver may not have a completely open view of the sky. Performance will still depend on satellite availability, correction quality, radio or mobile-data coverage and the surrounding environment.
Centimetre-Level RTK Positioning
When supplied with suitable RTK corrections, the SP20 has a stated horizontal accuracy of ±(8 mm + 1 ppm) and vertical accuracy of ±(15 mm + 1 ppm). In practical fieldwork, this supports tasks such as measuring site details, setting out design coordinates, checking completed work and recording accurate asset locations.
The receiver can be configured for rover, base and static workflows. Rover mode is used for real-time measurement and stakeout, while static recording can support control and post-processing work. This flexibility allows the SP20 to be used beyond a single type of survey project.
Measure with the Pole Tilted
The integrated IMU provides tilt compensation through an inclination of up to 60°. It uses seamless inertial navigation and does not require a separate calibration routine before normal use.
Instead of carefully levelling the survey pole for every point, the operator can tilt the pole while the system calculates the position of the pole tip. This can save time when measuring building corners, kerbs, walls, fences, trench edges, service points and locations beneath overhangs.
Tilt surveying can also make fieldwork safer and more comfortable. Operators can reach a point without leaning over an excavation or standing directly beside traffic, machinery or another obstruction. The specified tilt accuracy is within 2 cm across the supported tilt range, subject to suitable field conditions.
Flexible RTK Correction Connections
The SP20 includes an internal 4G modem for receiving network RTK corrections through mobile data. This makes it suitable for use with an NTRIP or CORS service where coverage and access are available.
An integrated 410–470 MHz UHF radio also allows the receiver to communicate in a local base-and-rover configuration. Bluetooth links the receiver to the C100T controller, while Wi-Fi provides access to the receiver’s browser-based management interface. NFC is available for simplified device interaction.
These connection methods allow crews to choose the correction workflow that fits the project. A network rover can reduce the amount of equipment taken into the field, while a local base-and-rover setup can be useful in areas without a suitable correction network.
C100T Android Survey Controller
The included Spherefix C100T is designed specifically for outdoor surveying. It runs Android 11 on an eight-core 2.0 GHz processor and provides 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal storage. This gives it the processing capacity needed for compatible surveying, mapping and data-collection software.
Its 5.45-inch high-resolution touchscreen is designed to remain readable in direct sunlight. Physical navigation, function and survey keys provide additional control when working in rain, wearing gloves or entering codes and point numbers repeatedly.
The C100T includes Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, 4G mobile-network support and NFC. Depending on the selected card configuration, it can accommodate dual SIM cards or a SIM card with a microSD card. A 13-megapixel rear camera can be used to record field conditions, assets and point locations alongside survey data.
Battery Capacity for Full Working Days
The SP20 contains a 9,600 mAh battery and provides more than 16 hours of typical operation when used as a GSM-connected rover. Static operation can support up to 24 hours of continuous collection under the manufacturer’s stated conditions.
The C100T has a 9,000 mAh battery with an indicated working time of up to 18 hours. This combination is intended to support full working days without frequent charging, although actual endurance will vary with screen brightness, mobile-data use, radio activity, temperature and software workload.
Lightweight but Ready for Site Work
The SP20 weighs approximately 740 g and uses a magnesium-alloy main body with an ABS and polycarbonate top cover. Its relatively low weight reduces fatigue during long periods of pole-mounted surveying.
Both the receiver and controller carry an IP68 protection rating. The SP20 is designed to withstand a 1.5 m pole drop at room temperature, while the C100T is specified for a 1.2 m pole drop. These protections make the set suitable for regular outdoor use, but ports and covers must remain properly closed to maintain water and dust resistance.
Practical Workflows for Different Users
Construction teams can use the SP20 Rover Set to position foundations, utilities, roads, drainage features and structural elements from digital design coordinates. Tilt compensation helps less-experienced operators collect points more quickly because the pole does not need to be levelled precisely at every location.
