In practical fieldwork, this can be useful near building façades, behind barriers, at road edges, around excavations, beneath structures or on other features that are awkward to occupy with a standard GNSS pole. It allows the operator to remain in a more convenient position while still collecting the required point.
AR Real-Scene Stakeout
The SP30 includes a wide-angle camera for augmented-reality stakeout. Instead of relying only on arrows, distances and a plan view, the operator can see stakeout guidance over the live camera image.
This makes it easier to understand the direction of the target point when working on busy construction sites or in open areas where visual references are limited. It can also help less experienced operators approach a point more confidently and reduce unnecessary movement during layout work.
Fast Tilt-Compensated Surveying
Integrated inertial measurement technology allows the SP30 to compensate for a tilted pole over an operating range of up to 60°. The manufacturer specifies positioning accuracy of less than 2 cm within this tilt range under suitable operating conditions.
Tilt compensation means the pole does not need to be carefully levelled for every observation. Surveyors can measure against walls, near corners, beside parked equipment, beneath vegetation and in other restricted locations where holding the pole vertically would slow down the job. This supports faster point collection while reducing physical strain during repetitive surveys.
Multi-Constellation GNSS Tracking
The 1,408-channel receiver tracks multiple frequencies from GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, SBAS and NavIC. Access to a broad range of satellite signals helps the receiver maintain useful satellite geometry in changing field conditions.
This is especially valuable near buildings, trees and site machinery, where part of the sky may be obstructed. No GNSS receiver can eliminate the effects of severe blockage or reflected signals, but multi-frequency, multi-constellation tracking gives the operator more signals to work with and supports reliable RTK performance in suitable environments.
Centimetre-Level RTK Positioning
For RTK work, the stated accuracy is ±(8 mm + 1 ppm) horizontally and ±(15 mm + 1 ppm) vertically. In practical terms, this makes the SP30 suitable for construction setting out, boundary and topographic surveys, utility mapping, control work and detailed GIS data collection when it is used with suitable corrections and good surveying practice.
As with all high-precision GNSS equipment, achievable accuracy depends on satellite visibility, correction data, baseline length, atmospheric conditions and the amount of signal reflection or obstruction around the measurement point.
Flexible Correction and Communication Options
The SP30 provides 4G mobile connectivity for network RTK and NTRIP correction services. It also includes an adjustable 5 W UHF radio for local base-and-rover operation. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support connections with field controllers, software and other compatible equipment.
These communication options allow the receiver to fit different working methods. A surveyor can connect to a regional correction network where mobile coverage is available or use a local GNSS base station and radio link on sites where an independent setup is preferred.
